De funktioner för övervakning och redundans, snabb kommunikation och enkel service som utvecklats inom ramen för MicroTCA-standarden tilltalar allt fler, även i andra tillämpningar än telekom.
Antalet leverantörer och produkter som stöder MicroTca standard ökar stadigt. Och det betyder att marknaden för dess användande kommer att sträcka sig långt utanför telekomsektorn. MicroTCA-standarden tar med sig mycket av det goda från telekomsidan och kombinerar det med intressanta teknologier för andra marknadssegment, allt till ett konkurrenskraftigt pris.
Hela MicroTCA-standarden är uppbyggd kring en annan standard, nämligen AMC, Advanced Mezzanine Cards. AMC-modulerna togs fram för att vara en dotterkortstandard till AdvancedTCA, vilket är en standard primärt ämnad för telekomtillämpningar.
